My trip to Myra with a stop at Phaselis.

Located on the southern coast of Turkey, Phaselis is a beautifully preserved ancient city that was founded in the 7th century BC. It's surrounded by three harbors, and the ruins offer a glimpse into the city's rich history, including a well-preserved theater, aqueducts, and ancient baths.

Myra, on the other hand, is a city that's steeped in legend and history. Its most famous landmark is the Church of St. Nicholas, which is dedicated to the saint who inspired the legendary Santa Claus. The church is adorned with beautiful frescoes and is a must-see for anyone visiting Myra.

But that's not all - Myra is also home to a Roman amphitheater that could seat up to 10,000 people. There are also stunning rock-cut tombs that overlook the city and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The tombs are carved into the cliffs and are a testament to the Lycian people's incredible craftsmanship and artistry. These tombs were the main reason I wanted to see this ancient city.

Both Phaselis and Myra offer a unique glimpse into Turkey's fascinating ancient history.
